TAKING CARE OF YOUR NEW PIERCING

Now that you have been pierced, it is important you follow the instructions listed here:

Always wash your hands before cleaning your piercing.

DO NOT touch your new piercing with dirty hands. This will prevent the transfer of bacteria.

Remember that until the piercing is fully healed, it is an open wound, therefore it will weep and crust for a period of time. This is perfectly normal.

Clean your piercing twice daily with mild saline solution. Make saline using SEA SALT and WARM WATER.

¼ tsp of salt diluted into ½ pint water  (allow to cool before use). Use a cotton bud to remove any dried matter around your piercing.

Daily cleaning for external piercings:

   1. Wash your hands.

   2. Take a clean cotton bud.

   3. Soak in the saline solution.

   4. Clean around the piercing.

   5. Wash your hands.

Daily cleaning for internal piercings:

You must rinse your mouth after eating, drinking and smoking. Do this using the above saline solution. This must be done for 4-6 weeks after piercing.

Weekly bathing:

Cover the whole piercing with a cupful of mild saline solution (above) to allow thorough cleaning of the piercing. Twice per week is sufficient.

Please be aware healing times vary, not only between piercings but between individuals. Sports and activities can prolong the healing as well as your level of health.
